Apple TV remote messing iTunes in MBP

This maybe a funny question but please is there a way to not have my MBP respond to AppleTV remote?

When watching TV, and using my remote, iTunes on my MBP starts acting up.

Go to System Preferences / Security & Privacy / General / Advanced and there's an option to disable the infrared receiver.

Or just pair the remote to the ATV so it wont control any other device.

that won't stop it controlling the MBP, that will only make the ATV only respond to that remote.

you either need to pair a different remote to the MBP or turn off IR.
