In Chicago, there is 3G service around The Loop, but it's spotty. On the train to the airport, it cut in and out.
Edge these days is very close to being unusable, b/c it simply takes too long for data to load. Yelp, web browsing (sometimes even mobile sites) are just too data-intensive. Things time out but you can IM, check facebook, and send an email. Edge is dead. It's no longer viable and it's not just an impatience issue. When 3G works on Tmobile it's very fast on the iphone 5. Faster than an iphone 5 using what they all 4g (not LTE). It's close though, but either way, it's faster than your typical Comcast connection so there's no reason that you need LTE. Although I'd love LTE (though it would kill battery life). T-mobile hasn't refarmed all of their spectrum, and I'm guessing it'll be one full year before they do. Easily the best deal in wireless WHEN it works. |
