I have a 5,5 Macbook Pro but it's actually mid-2007. I'm trying to figure out fro the above note if they made a mistake with 2008 and if it really means that with this other SSD it will run at the full SATA Revision 2 (faster than 1.5).

Can anybody confirm this? I can't get through to support...

I think you posted in the wrong section. This is Mac Pro (i.e. desktop).

Can't speak for the Mercury, but I have an OCZ Agility 3 in my 2009 MBP. Out of the box, it did the same thing - it's a SATA III drive but only showed a SATA I link speed. Had to download an ISO from OCZ, boot to that Linux environment, and change a firmware setting (really easy, btw). My guess is the Mercury has the same/similar Sandforce controller that doesn't cooperate well with the NVIDIA chipset in the MBP. Shame that OWC won't release a simple fix like OCZ does. After the change, mine runs at the proper SATA II speeds.

2008 here. SATA1 observed. I sent mine back as my current HDD could almost get to 150MB/s. Or close enough to be pissed about the link negotiation issue.

OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 3G SSD does not exist.

OWC Mercury Extreme Pro 6G SSD will only work with SATAI revision 1.
