You cannot in preview type in the word you want to search for.
---------- I have GoodReader for iPad but I did not find there the thing I am looking for. I mean, I type in word, and it will search for it in text.

Once opened the PDF in GR tap once into the document. On the lower screen should come a toolbar with he search function ... Type the word in the list and search.
Adobe Reader would also an alternative; search is a bit easier; but in general I also would recommend GR. |

Goodreader is a good choice. I personally prefer PDF Expert over it though.
