Apple logo lights up - is this normal?
When I disconnect the charger from my rMBP 15", the apple logo on the back top cover lights up and than after few seconds it turns off by itself (without getting the laptop out of sleep mode). Is this normal?

Let me get this straight: So when you unplug the charger the screen turns on, then a few seconds later shuts off?

I dont understand what you are saying...
Do you mean the display goes to sleep?

That isn't normal, unless it has something do do with PowerNap.

Log will show if rMBP woke up and what was the reason.
One of the November updates for MBP messed up some things in power management, it's possible this rMBP started waking up on AC connect/disconnect. ---------- It is normal for acwake 1. |

OP - This is normal, AFAIK the logo only lights up when you're plugged in, but I don't spend a lot of time looking at the back of the screen while I'm using my MBP, so I could be incorrect there. Either way I probably wouldn't worry about it. |

![]() Also on the air at least if there's a strong light source behind the mac and screen is off you can see the logo from the front of the screen, freaked me out a bit the first time it happened. (I'd perched my air on a window sill for a moment) |

AFAIK, the logo is lit by the same source as the screen, so it is only lit when the screen is on.

If the lid is closed and the mac is asleep and then unplug whatever plug the Apple will always lit up, the display will get active but since the lid is closed will go into sleep again.
The Apple Logo is lit by the display!!! This has always been the case AFAIK. |

If acwake is 1, then connecting/disconnecting Magsafe will result in waking Mac. It is supposed to stay asleep if acwake is 0.

Ok, so I will restate what I mean:
My rMBP is connected to its charger and the lid is closed, which means the display is off. After few hours, when it's still charging (and again, the entire process the lid is closed), I disconnect the charger from the rMBP and suddenly the Apple logo on the back lid (the physical Apple logo, on the back of the laptop) lights up for 5-10 sec and then goes off (again, without opening the lid/display). So, is this normal? FYI: I don't have any bluetooth/USB devices connected to my rMBP. In addition, Power Nap is off. Quote:

I have seen this happen on my MBA. In my case, I think it has something to do with clamshell mode. I typically have the MBA plugged into an apple ATD and as such, it is plugged into power and the thunderbolt connector most of the time.
When I pull it out of its stand to take it with me, I unplug the magsafe cable and the thunderbolt cable. I do notice that for a few seconds the logo lights up and then goes dark. I had always assumed this was related to the display and me essentially taking it out of clamshell mode. Not sure, OP, why this would happen for you. As someone mentioned, could be related to power-nap somehow. |

Sometimes my MBP turns on when I take out the power plug, other times it stays asleep.
Been having a few more issues with these new updates lately, too...

Yes that's exactly what I have. Sometimes it lights up but other times it doesn't. I've noticed that it lights up only when the rMBP gets into deep sleep or something like that (20-24 hours of charging).

OK, your Mac thinks it's supposed to wake on AC attach/detach. Check acwake (pmset -g). If it's 0 and you have installed MacBook Pro/Air update (2.0, it was released at the beginning of November and it resurfaced recently), you may have similar problem as other users. No 100% working solution at the moment.

I am also having this issue. Using a 13 inch non retina model though. The logo doesn't light up but when the machine is asleep and lid closed, if I unplug or plugin in the charger or the lan cable it wakes from sleep and goes to sleep again. I can hear the fans running.
And the result from terminal Code:
