1. I downloaded the official v1.26 patch and applied it to a PC version of Frozen Throne on a friend's PC.
2. I copied the entire Warcraft 3 folder from the PC to the Applications folder my mac running OS Lion.
3. I downloaded the file from Step 3 in aidmony's post and copied the files in it to the Warcraft 3 folder.

Works like a charm!!! No hassle, no dual boot, no need to install Snow Leopard etc.!!!
I couldn't get this working..

Installed Wc3/tft, updated to 1.26 using the updater, copied the entire Warcraft III folder from my PC to my Mac.. took that The Frozen Throne.app from that Chinese site and copied it inside the folder and when I launch it, it says "Sorry, could not launch Warcraft III"

ideas?

Just as an update (because I read the thread and wasn't sure how well it would all work) I have a 1.8GHz MacBook Air w/ 10.8.2 Mountain Lion and wanted to play WarCraft III.

Just bought the $9.99 Warcraft online direct from Blizzard. Didn't buy the expansion pack because I just wanted to play it a little and may or may not finish knowing me.

Anyway, I have CrossOver on my Mac already. Hadn't used it before, but Warcraft III is on the compatibility list.

Here is how I got it to work:

I downloaded the WINDOWS installer from Blizzard after paying. Crossover launched it and ran the installer just fine. I used the default settings for Crossover.

When installation ended, the game opened. I have a 23" Apple Cinema Display hooked up to my Air as the main display. I changed the graphics settings in the game to maximum -- no problem, it readjusted just fine and looks great and runs very fast! No slowdowns or glitches.

The only problem I have had is the movie intros are NOT supported. This is noted on the Crossover website. You have to go to your Library folder, find the Crossover "bottle" where you installed the game, and rename the "Movies" folder for Warcraft to something else (so it will not attempt to play the intro movies -- who cares)

Anyway, I just spent the last 3 hours or so joyfully playing WarCraft III on my Mountain Lion machine. No glitches -- sound works great. This is certainly one way to do it!
