I recall that there were a number of LocalTalk replacements, circa
86-89, that used clocks internal in the adaptors to allow higher
speeds than LocalTalk/PhoneNet.
I'd like to mention these in the
Wikipedia article on AppleTalk, but I can no longer recall the name of
them. I seem to remember that one was as fast at 1 Mbps, and another
that was made by a relatively well-known brand (SUN?)
Any bells running out there?
