I notice on the vesa mount located on Apple.com has a disclaimer that it doesnt fit late 2012 model iMacs (which come out tomorrow).

Anybody know when one will come out that will fit it?

you'll need a good image of the back, particularly the stand mounting, to see if it even comes off. that hump back is going to be an issue

I have a hard time believing they won't come out with one. Look for one as early as tomorrow. So many people in industry, education and even a lot of home users mount them.

saw new imac - Vesa mount questions

hello friends,

so i went to the apple store in manhattan today and saw the new iMac 21 inch. they only had one and were actually taking a second one out of the box. It was beautiful and the glare was at least 60% less. there is still glare but it was a lot better.

so the 21 inch DOES NOT have a removable "arm" so you can't fit anything in there nor take the "arm" off. It is a thinner "arm" or "pedestal" then the other iMacs. probably 75% the thickness of the older iMacs where it enters the new iMac back.

They do not have the 27 inch iMacs in stock but the apple guy said that for the OLDER iMacs only the 27 incher can have the "pedestal" taken off. he checked with a bunch of people and no one knew if the new 27 incher would be able to have the " pedestal" removed. it was a big bummer that no one knew. I do know that there is no way the old VESA will fit in the new one as the hole id different and the back of the new machines are curved.

PLEASE apple make the 27 incher have a vesa type mount. i 100% need this for my work.

If anyone knows anything else i would greatly appreciate it.

Because of a height issue, I need this for my set-up as well.

My fear is we won't get an answer for a few weeks, maybe until people start getting them. I hope not...

I just sent an email to one of the reviewers to see if they could offer some insight.

.

Uh, methinks this maybe a little late in the game. Justa hunch. :D

anyways, I've got a serious, sneaking, feeling that the VESA option is gone.

Their focus is on thinner and the VESA attachments required some internal brackets. Then again, who knows, but I seriously would not count on this.

BTW, I have been using a 27 in cinema display for years with a Ergotron mount.

But, I would probably still get the iMac without Vesa. It's always something, so you just have to be flexible.

NO removable "stand" 100% on new iMacs

Hi all, so i spoke with a few more apple reps. the stand on the new imacs is NOT removable... period... it is ALSO a new thinner profile. This SUCKS as i NEED a vesa mount. I think they did this so they could make the NEW apple TV that probably will come out in a year a VESA mount to attach to the wall and not compete with the imac.

This really irks me.. BUT there are a few options:

OR

I was on chat with an Apple rep late yesterday asking the same questions. His answer was "don't know yet".

A Mac specialist in the local Apple store said the old 21.5" iMacs did NOT have a removable base, and they don't expect the new ones to have one either. They had just received the first 2012 21.5" units, but nobody in the store had even attempted to open one up. And the service guys had not yet (as of Friday Nov. 30) received any service documentation that would answer the question.
