crucial vs. corsair ram

Any ram experts here? I'm gonna buy ram for the new iMac. I notice Corsair ram is more expensive than the crucial ram. Does anyone have any bad/good experiences with any of these brands or some info to share ?

I'm not an expert in ram but my experience from building custom pc:s is that corsair rams seems to fail more often (especially if you combine them with rams from another brand) so I've stopped buying their ram and usually I don't recommend people buying them either.

So yeah, I went with 32 gb from crucial for the new iMac.

RAM is RAM is RAM, about the only difference is the cost and which one has the best warranty. Other than that no difference. The only RAM I'd avoid is Kingston Value RAM.

For Macs, I always buy Crucial. They guarantee compatibility, plus I think they have the best customer service.

Another question. Here in norway I can't find the crucial ram that crucial recommend for 2012 imacs. But when checking their website and finding the ram for iMacs 2012 I see no technical differences between these two except it says the one I can buy in norway is not supported. If that just website bogus info ?

It looks like the exact same ram, just different part numbers. It should work no problem. I'm not sure why it's not guaranteed to work when it's the exact same spec??

I noticed on looking up my own ram that the exact same spec ram has different part numbers depending on which model you're looking it up for.

For example, the 2012 2.9ghz i5:

Different part numbers, exact same ram. Not sure why they do it like that.

Could be to help them internally track the distribution of the machines they're selling parts for.

Also, if I go with corsair ram instead. THis is the ram I think is suitable for late 2012 iMacs.

But what I don´t understand is what it means if you go to the tech specs and it says
Speed RatingPC3-12800 (1600MHz)
But SPD Speed1333MHz

what does this means, isn´t it the latest 1600mhz ram for imac 2012 ?

I ordered memory for a HP notebook yesterday from Crucial and it appears to be exactly the same memory as fits the iMac, but just a touch cheaper. Maybe the MAC logo on the memory packaging is where the difference and why some memory is not supported.

Possibly worth ordering on Black Friday as Crucial have announced that they will have 10% off their prices then :-)
