Use iMac as Monitor or Sell iMac & buy New

Guys.. question.. looking for input.

I currently have an iMac (as listed in signature).. and I've recently built a Windows Box. I have a Mac Laptop and I'm using my iMac as a target display for my PC... My Imac isn't getting much use (aside from the screen!) and my concern is this:

Using the iMac as a screen is great but if the iMac goes bad.. the screen is gone too. Assume I have an offer for 1050.

Should I take this offer and spend 700 on an Asus 2560x1440 monitor and pocket the 350 or keep the iMac and use THAT as a monitor?
