Their $30 100 min, Unlimted data (5GB full speed) plan is a pretty good solution for a wifi iPad. Most custom ROMs have free wifi hotspot built in. I have my Galaxy S3 set up this way but I've done it in the past with some cheaper Androids. Just keep it in your pocket turned on and you always have your wifi connection. And you also have a phone when carrying the iPad just isn't practical.
