So this randomly started happening today that my Trackpad doesn't respond to clicks. It does sometimes if I mash it, but mostly it doesn't. The weird thing about this is that my tapping and swiping is working perfectly fine. I've never realized how much I click and drag things before now.

My Macbook Pro is getting old and is from 2009, if that matters.

inb4: I've checked my System Preferences (which are normal) and have restarted my Mac.

I have a standalone trackpad on my iMac, and it gets stuck in the down position from time to time, and when it does, I have symptoms like yours.

Usually mashing on various locations on the pad will get it to pop back up.

It doesn't happen often, nor do I have that problem on 2 other MBP trackpads that I have.

In my case, it clearly feels stuck mechanically.
