LaCie Big Disk Extreme+ and LaCie Network Space 2
This might be a reach, but I'm trying to see if it is possible to remove the actual HDD from these two disks and put them in a external USB3.0/Thunderbolt enclosure with RAID 0 to use as combined 2TB fast storage.
I figure with the price of drives with USB3.0 and Thunderbolt still a little high, if I can find a nice USB 3.0 enclosure and just shove my existing drives in there it would be x10 better. My question is, anyone know if the connector inside these drives in the same as a regular 3.5 SATA HDD? Can I just pull these all out and reformat them using Disk Utility and be good to go, pending I have an enclosure? Anyone recommend any good USB 3.0 enclosures that can do RAID 0 and have 4 bays (I believe the big disk actually has two 500GB HDD)?
