Can I swap a hard drive from one eMac to another
My friend has been given some eMacs of varying sizes 800mhz to 1.42ghz
I have just purchased a G4 eMac with USB2 and 1.25 ghz cpu and leopard If i installed tiger on an external HDD USB2 would i be able to remove that HDD from the USB enclosure and install it inside a 800 mhz eMac as a internal would it boot and work?? |

Yes, if you don't install Tiger from an Intel Mac.
But if you get a FireWire 400 cable, you can use the eMac itself as an external hard drive (Target Disk Mode) and don't have to open it at all, if the hard drive is still good and you don't want to change it for a lager one. |

Have fun swapping HDs in an eMac, I have done it several times, you might want to have a small suction cup handy to get the back bulb's grooves to fit in the front panel.

Swapping hard drives on those things is not a fun job.

Yes i like to take a day to change a hard drive . I use an ice tray to put the different size screws in

If you mean hard drives in general then you shouldn't attempt this. Swapping a drive in a powermac is a 5 minute job. If it takes you a day then you shouldn't do it on an emac. Even a day for an emac is rough, but if you're confident then have it. Good Luck!
