can I upgrade the ram in my 27" iMac 2011 with this type?

I got a stupid question and just did something stupid but am trying to salvage the situation. I just ordered a new mac mini and didn't realize it had to be upgraded with laptop ram, so I purchased 16 GB of this ram,

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX41401

I ordered it online and am too lazy to go through the whole return process, does anyone know if I can simply just install this ram into my 27" 2011 iMac. I read online that the 2011 iMac model uses DDR3 1333 MHz ram, as this is 1600 MHz does that mean it won't work on my iMac?

any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Nope. That is DIMM, you need SO-DIMM (Small Outline). Here is the Apple support page: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4621

Quote:
The iMac (Mid 2011) computers have four SDRAM slots in the bottom of the computer and come with at least 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM installed as two 2GB DIMMs into two slots.

The maximum amount of RAM you can install in your computer is 16 GB (a 4 GB SO-DIMM in each slot).

You can use any Small-Outline dual inline memory modules (SO-DIMMS) that meet all of these criteria:

PC3-10600
Unbuffered
Nonparity
204-pin
1333 MHz
DDR3 SDRAM
You can use RAM module sizes of 2 GB or 4 GB in each slot.

DIMMs with any of the following features do not work in the iMac (Mid 2011):

Registers or buffers
PLLs
ECC
Parity
EDO RAM
Always follow the upgrade instructions for memory installation as written. Never attempt to remove any screws that are not listed in the upgrade instructions.

In addition to getting SO-DIMMs, you want to stick with DDR3 1333MHz. Go to Crucial.com, find your exact machine, and order the maximum your machine will take, bada bing.
