iPad mini Mini screen darker than ipad 2

I have just got the mini and although I knew the screen would not be as good as 3 I didn't mind it being like 2. But it is actually much darker than 2 even with the screen on a higher brightness setting. Does anyone else have this? Surely that can't be right?

My screen isn't even set to 50% and its nice and bright. If your screen is too dim even after turning up the brightness, I'd consider exchanging it. I'm finding the mini brighter than my 3 is at the same setting.

So that seems like an issue begat a pain. Anyone else experience this?
