My 2 days old iphone 5's battery is very poor, its decreasing 1 percent every 5 minutes in my hand.

Even though i switched off all background services it does not help. is this an ios issue or an app draning it ?

maybe whatsapp or any other infamous app ?

Restore it. Plug it into a computer with itunes on it, go to itunes -> your iphone -> restore. Don't set it up as a backup at any point, just sync your stuff over fresh. (The backup is probably corrupted)

1% every 5 minutes is 12% an hour of usage, about 8 hours of total time per full charge. That doesn't seem bad to me.
