For streaming my own content, heck yes, Apple tv, I agree.

But for streaming services, Roku. Plus, if you have an older tube tv that still has a great picture and works well, the Roku will work with it.

You don't need anything. Chromecast comes with a little cable extender that can be used precisely for that.

why remote??

Has anyone else heard of Why Remote?? It has face and hand gesture recognition and apparently integrates with different types of social media and streaming apps. it seems pretty cool, I'm looking forward to seeing them at the CES convention in January! was going to get my Father in law an apple TV but now going to get a roku since the remote is better and they have so much other channels for him
