How can I stop the updates coming?

I have hidden an app, correctly, and it doesn't show up on the Purchases page.
However, I still get told about updates. I don't want to be told. It was a lousy app. How do I stop them giving me this information?

Have you tried deleting the offending app on all your devices? I still get updates for my ipad offered to my mac iTunes but not to my iPad (deleted them from my ipad but not from mac iTunes account)

My understanding of the Mac App Store is that when you delete all copies of an app on your Mac the MAS app will not show a message when an update for this app is available.
I have many apps under Purchased, which are not installed on my Mac and for this apps I never got notified when an update was available.
