I'd been messing around with my new 16GB iPad mini Black all day long and hadn't noticed the issue until now (it's in the top right corner, so it was mostly hidden behind the title bar where I couldn't see it).
I opened the Amazon Instant Video app to watch The Hunt for Red October and there it was staring right back at me. The actual glass isn't cracked; it's the underlying screen/display unit. There was no damage to the box, or to the iPad itself, so I don't know how the factory missed this
I'm really bummed because I had to drive 45 minutes one-way this morning to pick it up from the Apple store two towns over. And with the 16GB models being in short stock, who knows when I'll be able to get a replacement
