My Macintosh 512K is a Sad Mac. Error code question

I recently purchased a Macintosh 512K.

I turned it on and it beeps and goes to a sad mac icon.

The error code is 021000.

Is there a guide that can tell me what that error code means?

It would be great if it was something that could be fixed.

At a guess, sounds like a bad chip at location G9 on the board

Yup. That would be it.

Now you need to desolder the RAM chip at location G9, find a working 41256 chip 150ns or faster and solder it in.

You might want to put in a socket while you're there...

Hello,

Does the sad mac appear on PowerPC G3 and early G4 systems? I believe one time I might have seen it under OS 8.6 with my Sawtooth.

I actually considered doing that.

If it was in working condition, I'd take it in just to get a picture of it in the store.
