The SMC update is working pretty well so far, good gaming performance, no fan noise. But i'm having an issue where whenever i open any demanding app (photoshop, vlc, etc) my dock stutters to show up (i leave it on auto-hide). Anyone else having this issue?

I also use Auto-Hide, my Dock is operating normally.

However since I applied the update, their has been a huge reduction in the time it takes to recharge my 15" late 2012 MBPr.

From 25% remaining, it only requires about 55 min to bring it to 100%. The first two times it was total disbelief, yet I've timed it four times.

this is the update i've been waiting for.. after playing wtih gfxCardStatus and seeing how inaccurate it was, i was getting quite frustrated by the system's willy-nilly switching between discrete GPU and integrated GPU (the latter of course was the dog slow one and the former had glitches and occasionally caused my system to lock up)..

now this laptop feels like the perfect machine, the way it should have been when i first bought it IMO.. glad this (and 10.8.3) finally came fixed all my laptop's performance woes.. and yes i realize some of that may be because i run one of the higher-res non-default resolutions (my eyes have their own set of complaints i'm dealing with now).

just found out that every time it switches to the discrete graphic card, the stutter starts. It happens when i connect to external display with HDMI too. Seems like i'm the only one having this problem with the update, this seems to have fixed for everyone else who had problems before...

EDIT: this seems to have fixed the issue https://discussions.apple.com/thread...t=900&tstart=0

Hey,

I've been looking for the Apple Communities' thread where users talk about the graphics issue playing games. Is this the one? Or is this only about UI lag under OSX?

Btw, what kind of tests can I do to check if I have any lag under OSX? It's just that performance issues under Boot Camp with games are killing me and I'm seriously thinking about taking the MBP in for repair (like I was right before Apple released the update) and I want to have as much proof as possible that there is something wrong.

Thanks

After reading through 180 pages of your comments, today I decided to finally go ahead and buy a 15" retina 2012 model (at a reduced price, thankfully). I hope its better than the 13" 2.5 i5 I was running before. Hoping that is an understatement.

Thanks for all the info. These forums really help the buying process.
