Is It Possible to Use a Wildcard in Textedit
Hi,
Is there a way to use a wildcard with Find and Replace in Textedit. I have: word1 word2 word3 I need to wrap them in quotation marks and add commas. The final result I'm after is 'word1' , 'word2' , 'word3' Is there any easy way to do this-- other than typing them? Otherwise, I've got a lot of typing to do. Thanks, -Laxmidi |

Not AFAIK in TextEdit. You can do grep searches in TextWrangler though.

Choose Edit > Find > Find.
Do one of the following to specify the text you want to search for: Type text in the Find field. Select text in your document, and then choose Edit > Find > “Use Selection for Find.” Specify a search pattern (such as all phone numbers, all digits, or all tab stops) by clicking the magnifying glass next to the Find field, choosing Insert Pattern from the Find field pop-up menu, and then selecting an option. |
