iPhone 5S needs to be skipped

Having own multiple Android phones and tablets, I'm pretty sure I know what Android provides.

Slow pace of technological change I believe. Sometimes a company will try to maintain profit or monopoly that it is disruptive to better devices' natural progression. Look at TV's in the living room. Who in the right mind would want a smaller screen compared to a large one? Or a smaller monitor compared to a larger monitor for the computer. As long as it is light enough to carry, people would prefer higher fidelity for the eyes. Just like they would prefer higher fidelity for the ears.

Which comes to the major point: carry. Why are we carrying our phones rather than wearing it? It is so stupid. We wear our bluetooth, we wear our glasses, we wear our watches. Why are we still carrying a phone? Just because a tiny elephant can't break a small rope doesn't mean he can't as an adult. So why are we still carrying phones?

We should be wearing it between the hand and the elbow. The screen should be the length of the forearm wrapped around and can unwind to be a large rectangular screen that you can touch (like an iPad), and rewind to the arm when not in use (well, it can still be touch sensitive for status and quick interactivity in wound state). This iWatch thing is so behind the times, if it is not long enough to cover the forearm (or at least half of it), it would be outdated the day it comes out. Tiny screens don't work, and wearable displays only works with a large display. Tiny devices only work if they are connected to a projection type display or holographic display: google glass is going in that direction).

But because designers are still stuck in their bubble, we have to settle for a large display you hold rather than wear. And thus we come back to 1080p devices with a good camera. I believe until Samsung gets a non-pentile screen out, it is between Sony, HTC, and whoever comes out with a large 1080p+ large display.

The only thing that will piss me off about the new iPhone (I have the 5) is that they will announce some great software feature and not allow it on any other iPhone even though they can clearly handle it. I understand they're in it to make money, but c'mon now. (example being Siri excluded from iP4)

There was a hardware reason for that i believe which was a lack of a 2nd microphone for noise cancelling.

Siri was an app in the App Store before apple bought it and removed it and made it exclusively for the 4S and higher. People with the 4 had Siri or at least access too it at one point. I believe the 4 and 4S share the same microphones.

Apple intentionally withholds software features to make people want to upgrade. Like apple maps, picture from video, video recording, Hdr, etc etc. The 5S will get a feature the 5 doesn't have.

That's not a terrible business model though. My phone might not gain some new features but it will work like it always has. And it will give me incentive to upgrade.

I didn't know that, interesting. However I feel that's very insignificant reason from my person use.

I use Siri quite often because I use a very inexpensive Motorola Bluetooth which isn't as good at suppressing background noise as the tech built into an iPhone 4. It's actually quite bad at it according to people I talk too on the other end. Never really had an issue, and if I do which usually happens when my Garmin GPS starts talking while I'm using Siri both are equally effected.

The other way I use it is to my head like a phone conversation which should be identical to the iPhone 4.

Never had any more of an issue using voice command on an iPhone 4 then a 4S either.

Plus it worked just fine with the iPhone 4 when it was an app. Works fine for friend I have that has a jailbreak 4 with Siri, except sometimes it doesn't respond but that's not due to it not being able to understand its because its a tweak. Don't know if its gotten better with untethered JB.

I'm not totally negating their maybe improvements in the 4S that enhance its functionality. Just its functionality the phone already has, I'd venture to say the 4 has better noise suppression then a lot of Android phones that run Google Now. My Xoom got Google Now while Apple took Siri away from iPhone 4 users.

I did say that Apple withholds things to make you want to upgrade and I stand by that. I believe all companies do, why upgrade if the phone is identical? But thinking about it that might not be the case here. When the 4S came out there were a lot of outages of Siri because Siri servers were being overwhelmed due to dumb questions mostly. Imagine how bad those outages would have been if you added ALL the iPhone 4 users! I don't know how many iPhone 4 users there were at the time but I'm sure it was an outrageous number.

Quite often within BS there is a kernel of truth, somewhere.

Meanwhile Google Voice search is better at recognizing speech on an iPhone 4 than Siri is on a 4S.

On the other hand, imagine how marginal the 4S would have seemed if the 4 got Siri too. This on top of the fact that it was the longest wait for an updated iPhone ever.

That is what happened with Siri. Before the 4S was announced the Siri app worked fine on the iPhone 4. During the announcement it was pulled from the app store. If you had already installed it you were greeted with this if you ran it:

“I’ve been replaced! The new Siri is even smarter and better looking than me, and waiting for you on the iPhone 4S. I’ll be leaving for home Oct 15th. Until then…how can I help you?”

After October 15? Stopped working.

I could care less for the name of their new iPhone. I just want it to make a huge jump. I want the new iPhone to be as big of a jump as the iPhone 4 was. When the iPhone 4 was released, iOS 4 introduced a lot of neat features that complimented the 4.

I like the 4s, fooled with it in Best Buy. If the screen was bigger and it had a bit higher resolution, that is the one I would go for. I do not like the design of the 5. No android for me anymore, btw.
