I know this question sounds obvious and there are a million threads on placing folders on the dock but my need is more specific:

I want to add a folder to the dock but when I click on that folder, I simply want it to open in finder. I don't want to click the folder and then view contents in in Grid or List view, I only want the finder to open with that folder's contents. Is this possible?

Thanks!

Right-clicking it and selecting OPEN is not an option?

: The better option is explained by angelwatt.

Make an alias for the folder, then drag that to the Dock.

Yeah, I know this is old and the previous post revived it, but...

I did that and it worked fine. However, I have another Stack with the alias arrow in my Dock, and it's been there for a long time, so I don't recall how it was created. When I left click on it, it behaves like a normal Stack rather than opening the folder it points too straight away. That is puzzling to me now.
