is it true than on OSX LION 10.7.5 installing MESSAGES BETA removed ichat?

So it seems like (for messages beta on OSX lion 10.7.5) you can have either Messages or iChat but not both, correct?

Anyone else find that or was it common knowledge and I just missed something?

Yes

It's not really removing it, its more like upgrading. Messages is really just a rebranding of iChat with the addition of iMessage.

jsm is correct about it upgrading the app, although there was option to downgrade if problems arose in Messages.

In any case, you're about 2 years late to that conversation.

Yes, installing Messages Beta removed iChat, but can be uninstalled and reverting back to iChat once it is done.

If you can't upgrade to Mountain Lion to use Messages, try using MLPostFactor (links all over this forum) to get it up and running.

As of right now, I don't know of any way to use the Messages program on a Lion 10.7.5 computer.
