iTubes backup restore question

Hello,

A friend of mine has just updated the software on his iPad whilst connected to iTunes on his mac but after the iOS update it's lost all his data. I think it's on the laptop but we cannot seem to get any choices when clicking Restore Backup...

Is there a key+other to hold before clicking Restore Backup...

I do recall there was but cannot rememeber what.

iTubes. The Internet is a series of tubes. Now take it with you.

Sorry, couldn't help it. The Option key is one that Apple uses to "hide" alternate functionality like that. Try that.
