Ps3 and Netflix , HD ?

When I stream movies that are HD on Netflix and I press select on the controller , it says "MEDIUM HD"
it never goes up to High HD

MEDIUM HD = 720p
High HD = 1080p

the walking dead streams in HIGH HD
but movies like transformers & Thor only say medium HD


is this a problem on my end or Netflix ?
I'm wired & I get about 30mb download & 7mb upload in network test


Are those movies not 1080p ?

I just updated the ps3 software today

What are your Netflix settings in regards to video quality set at?

I don't think this is the issue though as you state some say 720 and some say 1080.

The only think I can think of is Netflix is now specifying whether the stream is 720 or 1080 instead of just saying HD??

My Netflix settings are set to the best quality on there website


Some movies play in HIGH HD like brave heart


The movie drive" started at medium HD ,after 10 minutes it moved to HIGH HD

I will have to check this out tonight when I update my PS3. I logged in Netflix on my PC at work to see if there was anything about different levels of HD and did not see anything. I am thinking it is the PS3 software that detects this.

Also in Netflix , how do I logout of my psn account , when I'm watching a movie & one of my friends logs in to psn I see the notification in the corner

Why do I need to login to psn to watch Netflix ?

Do you have auto sign in on your PS3 setup? Have you tried to log out of your psn account and try to launch netflix? Does it force you to sign in to your psn account? I think it may make you because when you are on netflix all your friends will see that you are logged in and it will tell them you are on netflix.

To be honest I don't use my PS3 a lot for netflix so I need to muck around in there a bit.

I can't enter the Netflix app in the ps3 without login in to the psn


I'm just curious about this , I mainly use my Apple TV for Netflix , the ps3 interface looks horrendous & clunky
I don't know how the ps3 is the number 1 Netflix streaming device

But I like that they tell you the quality , I wish Apple TV had that
