First off, I don't know a thing about macs. This is my wife's computer and I work mainly off a PC.

She has her original install disk, and at the moment I am writing zeros to the drive to erase the whole thing.

The problem I have been having is it DOES boot but it's grey screen, then the apple logo, then the circle loading bar displays for a lot longer than it should be.

I've looked through possible solutions on google and such.. But like I said I don't know Macs that well. Reset the PRAM so the thing chimes on start up. I'm able to access Disk Utility and get into the Recovery HD.

If there is anything that might help me, it would be appreciated.

After writing Zeros, it turns out the CD wasn't catching so I turned it on it's side and jammed that crap in there. Heard the churning CD noise a-going and the program installed fine.
Thanks for your help!
