For anyone looking.. I updated the NWN 1 wrapper I made a while back to something more current. It should work fine on 10.6+ and I *think* i have the built in Movie Fix working so it should work without anyone having to manually update their nwn.ini on all set ups. I can't test every boxed or digital version of NWN though...

So you need to make a wine wrapper even *with* the Mac installer? Is it because it was coded for PPC architecture?

I've had decent luck running NWN with WS9Wine1.5.25. At least I haven't encountered an issue yet...

Hi to all, I'm new... I've read this topic and decided to subscribe.
I tried in fact to play to nwn diamond edition using you suggestions and something is ok, but something is not ;)
The problem is that after 5 or 10 minutes that the game is running it comes back to the mac os desktop, the app is still running and the music is still playing but the game is crashed. I want to signal that this happen during the character creation (I'm not playing) and often while I'm reading the descriptions of the class or other stuff (I mean: I don't click anything when the game crashes).

I tried both the wineskin wrapper of doh123 and a new brand wrapper created by me with the last engine.

I installed the diamond edition and then patched it with HOTU critical patch (as described in the istruction of the site).

I ask you help please ;)
And to help you in helping me I post the 2 last run log files of my wrapper:
the LastRunWine.log

I want to add some cents... and I'm a bit sad doing this, because I think that things become harder... If I run my wrapper from my Imac (video card ati based) it seems to works without problem (in the log there are the same errors, but the game doesn't disappear). The anomaly remains present when I run the wrapper from my macbook pro (video card intel based).
I underlined the difference about the 2 video card because the other parts are similar: cpu i7 and ram 16Gb on both the machines...

any ideas?

Its possible you have some other program running that is trying to take focus (some auto-update or who knows what), and the NWN is getting auto-minimized. When that happens it will not always restore correctly.

I think that you are right, but I can't understand what is taking focus. I looked also into the console log and at the moment of the game disappearing there is no log entry... This is a mistery :(

In addition on my brother's macbook (very similar to mine) the wrapper works right.

I tried also creating a new account on my macbook but the wrapper's behaviour is the same...

If you have some ideas to tracking this problem... I'm here

Can someone explain to me in very simple terms how to make NWN 1 and 2 work on Mac OS X? I'm... uh... computer illiterate. But I'd really like to play the games :p
