Apple Stores - $899 for "old" Macbook - Opinions

Just got back from my local Apple Store. Have been waiting for the macbook announcements for a few weeks now (been using a netbook since my 18 month old Dell's battery died). Couldn't decide what to get - the newly announced Macbook, the $1199 Mac Pro or the "old" Macbook - they only had 7 left in stock and lowered the price $100. I left with the previous gen macbook with replaceable battery. Haven't opened it yet.

Of my 3 choices do you all think I made the right one??

Is the battery worth $100?

The choice you're happy with is the "right" choice.

A hundred bucks off to skip all the new features? What are they smoking? Unless you have to have firewire, take the danged thing back!

It's a new unibody build, 7 hour battery, LED backlit display, and multitouch trackpad for just $100. I'd say go with the newer ones.

Sounds like you want someone to justify your purchase

First thing i would ask is what do you generally use it for? If it is just for writing love letters here and there, scrolling the internet endlessly, then yes you made the right choice; however, i could give you a more direct answer if you just told me what your normal daily actions are with it

I'd get my money back and get a new one. Never had any problems with batteries in Mac laptops and the new features are definitely worth 100 dollars.

If you have friend who's a student, you could try getting a new one for less
