Possible to tie together ALICE and Applescript/Speech?

Not a programmer really, dabbled very lightly in Perl, so just wandering in here to ask a simple question. I watched Iron Man again and fell in love with Jarvis (again).

I could feasibly sit down and write a whole bunch of stuff in Applescript so that I could have conversation with my Mac and control it at the same time (as in include random responses and layered conversations if that is the right thing to call it).

But when ALICE already does much of this already, is there any way to combine the two? Overall aim is to control the computer, and have a little conversation with it already. It seems like doing both separately isn't too much of an issue, but can't wrap my head around combining both. Given that google isn't being super helpful, I'm guessing its not that easy?
