Now that netflix streaming for iPhone is here, I am curious how many hours I can watch over 3G and still be under the 2gb limit. Please post your experience with 3G data usage when streaming netflix.

including startup of the app and 5 minutes of SpongeBob... 13.8mb

or 2.76 mb per minute.

simple math says 724 minutes.

Wouldn't the data usage vary depending on your connection speed? I thought it adjusted the stream to your data rate.

wtf I've been waiting for this forever and now that its out I had no idea.

I keep getting the following message:

"Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later. If the problem persists, please visit Netflix.com. (104)"

It's because we were on the $4/99 plan. Upgraded to the 8.99 plan, and it started working....that was a crappy error message.

Does anyone know how to watch more than just the first episode of a TV season through the netflix app? The web and Xbox interfaces allow you to choose which episode you watch, I see no such functionality on the Ipad/iphone apps.

As far as I can tell, you just need to scroll down.

that's how it works on all the other platforms so I don't see why it would be different here. People using this app will need to keep a close eye on their data usage.

The quality really is great. So far, I'm impressed.

And I 2nd (3rd, 4th) the rest of you with unlimited data.

It rocks.

:D

I watched 7 minutes of Family Guy on 3G to test. It used about 20 MB of data.

Wow, I can't believe they have "9 Songs" and the unrated version of "Caligula" on there. That's basically porn.

Good thing I'm on unlimited.

I'm hoping the Netflix app will allow us to change our regular DVD queues eventually. All the other apps for that kinda suck.
