Hi I am new to the forum,

With the wealth of knowledge in these forums, what do you people think the best / essential programs one should have for mac OS X?
1. freeware: ie. floating clock, p2p, calendar, mail, game, photo
2. software: photoshop, microsoft?
3. palm programs: games, other...

What profession are you in?
student, suit, graphics, CPA,? a lot depends on what you want to do. Where are you headed in your career?

Even though Mac only has about 10-15% of the computer market about 90% of that is in the commercial printing and Graphics industry. I think about 8% of the rest is in Education. We who are fortunate enough to scrounge the cost of a decent comp have Macs. It took me 3 years to pay off my G3-400 with the 17" Apple monitor, and the Epson 850 printer. ($2,500, to those interested, in 1999)

For any kind of Graphic use I recommend the Adobe CS Premium suite costly at first but well worth it.

Anything else, buy a Dell and go Microsoft. 😱
