Can't get rid of black background on custom app icon.

I've been trying to use a different icon for a calendar app I use (CalenGoo). I found one that I like, however no matter how I size it or alter it (yes I know it's supposed to be 114 X 114) it keeps coming back with a black background.

Does anybody know how get around that?

*Attached are the icon in question and a shot of my homescreen.
