Not a dev, would love to here some dev experiences in this thread. Thanks guys...

I haven't tried it, but a friend of mine is a Dev and has been using 4.1b3 and said all of his proximity problems have gone away completely. But again, that was just the beta. He's probably got the GM now, so will have an update soon.

Proximity issues are gone! It feels like it turns the screen off further away from your ear than before so if you are resting it on your shoulder and the phone tips a bit it doesn't let the screen turn on. That was my main issue and the cause of countless hang ups and mutes. I made two calls now, one for a half hour, and on both calls I could not get the proximity sensor to fail like before.

Finally!!!

I agree!!! :)

Triggering the sensor used to be about 1/4", and now, it triggers almost a full inch away. It's very sensitive now.

Just loaded it up myself and after the first phone call, definitely noticeable difference!!

Great news. :D

You don't need a dev account to install the GM. Just go Google it and then shift+click update to it. Voilà, 4.1 today!

Without linking to the instructions which were given in the thread which is now deceased, one specific point was to click Restore and NOT update.
You can click update without a problem. It's doing the exact same thing updating to 4.1 through iTunes next week is doing. The gm is the update that they're going to be releasing.

I am not disputing that the GM is the update that will appear next week. I just followed the instructions which said not to click on update. Obviously not having tried to click "update" I have no personal experience of that.

No problem updating to 4.1 from deleted thread, and yes no more issues with the proximity censor. It seems to activate from further away and I have not had it mess up :D

4.1 IMPROVES sensor but doesn't FIX it

I can tell you that there is a definite improvement with 4.1 on iPhone 4 with proximity sensor issues.

I can cradle the iPhone 4 between my shoulder and ear with significant improvement (but still I managed to face-press the end call button).

It is better for sure, but not a complete fix.

After using for a while, its definitely better but I agree, not a complete fix, still having issues with activating speakerphone, but at least I didn't accidentally call someone.
