Not a dev, would love to here some dev experiences in this thread. Thanks guys...
Proximity issues are gone! It feels like it turns the screen off further away from your ear than before so if you are resting it on your shoulder and the phone tips a bit it doesn't let the screen turn on. That was my main issue and the cause of countless hang ups and mutes. I made two calls now, one for a half hour, and on both calls I could not get the proximity sensor to fail like before.
Finally!!!
Triggering the sensor used to be about 1/4", and now, it triggers almost a full inch away. It's very sensitive now.

You don't need a dev account to install the GM. Just go Google it and then shift+click update to it. Voilà, 4.1 today!
Assuming it is OK to talk about it, without giving links, you do NOT click update but restore. You knew this?
why? i and a few others updated fine rather than restoring......
You can click update without a problem. It's doing the exact same thing updating to 4.1 through iTunes next week is doing. The gm is the update that they're going to be releasing.Without linking to the instructions which were given in the thread which is now deceased, one specific point was to click Restore and NOT update.

I am not disputing that the GM is the update that will appear next week. I just followed the instructions which said not to click on update. Obviously not having tried to click "update" I have no personal experience of that. You can click update without a problem.
