I JUST ORDERED A 9700 PRO OEM MAC EDITION OFF OF EBAY, AND I WAS WONDERING WHAT THE SPECIFIC PERFORMACE INCREASES OR DIFFERENCES THERE ARE BETWEEN THE 9600 PRO, 9700 PRO AND THE 9800. BASICALLY I'M WONDERING IF I MADE THE CORRECT DECISION ON UPGRADING MY G4 DIGITAL AUDIO W/OWC 1.467 PROCESSOR UPGRADE AND 1.25 GIG RAM.

Have a look at BareFeats.com; they have a lot of benchmarks, and I believe they cover all three of those cards somewhere.

I can only say for certain that the 9800 is a lot faster than the 9600 in gaming; not sure where the 9700 fits in.

Please don't post in all caps. It's considered as shouting on the vast majorety of all sites on the internet and is very rude indeed. And it makes it harder to read. Some sites even go so far as to ban the person who does it.

Please think about that the next time you post. Not just for the sake of the rest of us, but allso for yours too.

On to your question.

The preformance goes from low to high just as you have posted. The 9600pro is weaker then the 9700pro wich is weaker then the 9800 [thus being the most powerfull card of th three]. If you want a clearer picture of the differences I suggest that you visit one of the many PC sites that preforms tests of that kind, like Tom's hardware for instance.

We are talking about the Mac version of these cards, and who knows what Apple did to the drivers.

The 9800 is supposed to be better than the 9700. The 9700 is supposed to better than the 9600.

But, on the Mac, the 9700 appeared before the 9800 and 9600 (those two appeared when the G5s were released. The 9700 appeared when the 1.42 GHz G4s appeared). If Apple did something wrong with the drivers, and never updated the 9700 much, the 9600 could be indeed faster. However, I don't think Apple screwed it up from what I've heard.
