iMac i3 , colors are off. Blue looks purple and other things?

Enjoying the speed of my new iMac i3 but the colors just seem way off compared to my older MBP. Perfect example is going to craigslist where the text is blue on my MBP but on my iMac the text looks purple.

What is wrong here and what can I do to correct this?

Either go through the color calibration setup in the system preferences, or it it is critical buy a hardware device like Syder. The new advice is to set the gamma at 2.2 and the temp at D65 or 6500. Even the Apple calibration will allow you to neutralize any color temperature shifts, which make your neutral tones look casted one way or another. It will take about 2 to 3 minutes to go through the Apple calibration...

Straight from the box colours will be different, but usually not that different. Can you compare with other iMacs? Could it be another of the "Apple Quality Control" thingy...

Older MBPs had seriously warm backlights. My new LED-backlit iMac 27” looks completely different from my old 2006-era MBP. Just the way of things.

Ok so if you go to to Craigslist.net does the text appear to be purplish or blue?

On my new iMac it's like purple and my 2007 MBP it looks blue.

The calibration tool that came with my iMac really did not change anything.......

The text looks rather blue to me on my 27 inch iMac. I did notice that the operating system's using a lot of purple offhues to anti-alias the text on craigslist, so that might be why you're seeing a bit of purple.

As for your macbookpro's text looking more blue, you can always just calibrate color temperature of your iMac.
