wheres the plug in and play man?

i just bought a firewire cable for my epson 2450 scanner...because it wasnt included and i want more speed then the usb cable it has. however everytime i try to scan it trys to find the usb cable. is there some configuration that i should do for it to look for the firewire cable? i thought firewire was plug in n play man. whats up?

I don't have the scanner but I'd expect that there's an Epson utility in an Epson folder like the one that goes along with the printer driver that will help you configure the scanner to use a different port.
