Hi,

I have a late 2009 20' iMac and a brand new 13' MacBook Pro. I just received the firewire cable so I'm attempting to put one of them in target mode but no disk is showing up on the host.
I did read the instructions on Apple's web site, I do get the firewire logo dancing on the target but nothing else. I tried setting the other one as a host (restarted, held T...) with the same results.
I received 2 firewire cables and got the same results with both (although they're eBay no-brands so I'm not ruling out bad cables... but 2 bad cables, really??)

Any other idea?

Do you have a standalone drive you could try on FW?

Perhaps one of the Macs has a bad connector.

If you're getting the bouncing FW logo on the target, then you're doing the boot sequence correctly.

Also, double-check to really make sure the cables are inserted all the way. I know, I know, you already did that but I just had this exact problem bite me last weekend.
