Comcast email issue

Hi all,

I have my gmail and comcast accounts set up on my iphone running 4.1. I notice that sometimes the comcast POP account exhibits some strange behavior. After i receive new email and delete on my phone, a few seconds later it will re-recive the same messages again as new, un-read messages. it can sometimes do that 1-2 after the original deletion of the messages. I have it currently set to delete off the server. is there anything else i can do? or is this a comcast issue?

thanks
Brent

just use imap, there's absolutely no reason not to. I highly doubt you'd be having these same problems.

You are correct. Comcast does not provide IMAP email service, POP only.

I have a Comcast account and get my mail on my phone, as well as on my computer. I have not experienced any actions such as you describe with receiving the mail again after deletion, however I don't have my iPhone set to delete the mail from the server. How often do you have the phone set to fetch mail? I can try and duplicate this on my iPhone and see if it displays this behavior and get back to you as soon as you let me know about fetch.

Actually there is a reason, Comcast not offering it.

You can extend the lack of IMAP support as reasoning not to use Comcasts' crappy e-mail service to begin with.

Brent,

Checked it out and was unable to duplicate the problem you identified. I would try and delete the account on the iPhone and re-enter it and see if that helps. Good luck with it.

Could be worse. Crapcast suddenly reassigned my email to someone else's account a couple of months ago. The kicker is they never changed the email password, so with all the integrated account features online, I had access not just to the email, but also their voicemails, call history, account settings. Despite the obvious privacy security violation they put this person under, it still took them a month to fix it, and at that they didn't disable the login for three weeks. When they disabled the login it was supposed to be for a day, but ended up being another week without email until I called and threaten to report the issue to the FCC and better business bureau. The next day it was all fixed.

Of course your issue could be purely phone related, but you never know how comcast might screw something up.

I have the same problem with comcast deleted emails coming back multiple times. Very annoying. I also have the issue of comcast not forwarding pictures. I'd switch to another service but I have my email address all over the
place.

Set up forwarding then. Surely even Comcast has forwarding...?
