Hello... While traveling, I made sure my room has internet, however, they all are wired. Luckily I have my laptop. Is it possible to create a ad-hoc connection so I can share my connection on the laptop to the iPad? If so, how is this done? Thanks!

Assuming you're on a mac, click on the airport icon in the upper right of your screen.. Turn Airport On if it isn't already... then select "Create Network..." once you've created your ad-hoc network, open system preferences and turn on Internet Sharing by checking the box next to that option.

Then configure Internet Sharing with the following values:
Share your connection from => Ethernet
To computers using => AirPort
