I just updated my 3G from 3.1.3 to 4.1 and now my phone shuts off automatically once it goes into sleep/auto-lock mode.

I'm ready to downgrade as I can't afford this to keep happening.

I suppose I will go back to 3.1.3 as it seems others are complaining about 4.0.

Does this seem like the best solution, or does anybody have any other solutions?

I did a few searches here and found similar questions, but without answers.

Please help...

Solution

I think i have found a solution to the problem about the phones shutting off while in sleep mode. I was having the same problem with my iphone 3g 8GB earlier today, until i replaced the number 4 part (the charger port and the mic, speakers, ect) on the bottom of the phone. Now my phone dosent shut off during sleep mode anymore. This worked for my phone so if u havent tried it it might be the problem:)

That is not really a solution, and if you think it is, then I have another solution. Buy all the parts and build your own.

Guys im Dying heree..!

Please im having this problem with my ipod since 3 weeks, i used to have no problems with my ipod, i was on 3.1.2 and it was alright, i jailbroke it using blackra1n, however suddenly it got stuck in DFU mode, so i had to restore it to iOS 4.1, and since then each time i lock my ipod, it turns off, to avoid such a thing i have to keep my ipod on the USB Cable, its really annoying, and it gets stuck alot while playing , and another thing that happens is that when it shuts off i have to hold the lock button and home button for around 8 seconds for it to work, which is really annoying, another way i found to keep my ipod working is to keep playing the music, which is battery consuming, so please i need some help..
please reply soon, i would really appreciate your help, if you want you can contact me on my email:
asoom2352@hotmail.com

Thanks..

More on iphone 3g dying when auto-lock

I'm using my son's old iphone 3g that had been dropped, glass cracked. At t he time, it stopped working properly and he got a new phone. It sat in his desk for a year until I read that it might be repairable for not much money. I was able to replace the glass and get it working again. It has not been jail broken. I restored the software on itunes to the latest (4.2.1 IIRC) and it came back to life, battery shows full charge, works properly, except.... the subject of this thread- if unplugged from usb, the phone will die once it goes into auto-lock. And I mean die; it cannot be brought back up using the home or sleep/wake button (or combination). The only way to bring it back to the living is to hook up to the computer usb. Then it re-boots phone and all is well. I was hoping it might be a software problem so I tried re-installing an older version (3.0) but the problem is still there. I would welcome any ideas on how to properly diagnose or fix this...

Oh and modem firmware is 05.15.04. The other possibly relevant fact is that I have the phone activated using a go phone sim card.

That's what started happening with my iPhone 3G. I found out my phone actually started turning off when i put it on Sleep mode.
One day it just would not boot up unless it was connected to a power socket. Then a week later, it just died. I found out that the battery had died, and i paid $100 to get a brand new iPhone 3G.

iphone turn off in sleep mode

Same problem with iphone 3gs 5.0.1 bb 6.15.00 (jailbreak and unlock). i have install sbsettings, sbcenter and for the problem of turnoff in sleep mode... sleepdepriver in cydia and preventsleep in cydia. but i think only turn on (zzz) sleepdepriver can make the job. (after install, you can turn on the automatic lock without problem)
