Iphone 4 Sim Lock free, USA-EUROPE

Hi,

I need your help and advice. My friend went to Amerika and bought in the LA Apple Shop an Iphone4 32GB for $787.15 or +-650 EUR.

We were sure that it will work in Europe. But it seems that it has been locked by company AT&T.

Had some of you the same situation, or your friends?

650 EUR for me as a teenager is a lot for something that doesn't work.

Every iPhone sold in a store in the US (AT&T, Apple, Best Buy, etc) is locked to AT&T and they will not unlock them.

Sounds like you didn't properly research this before your friend purchased.

Canada now sells unlocked phones able to be used worldwide.
 
Yes like mentioned above all US iphones are locked to AT&T sims only.
Can you find out what firmware its on? Maybe you can JB and unlock it so you can use it with a nonofficial simcard.
Is the phone activated and does it let you get into the homescreen where the icons are?

OK thanks, the problem is that i can do everything except calling and sending messages.

Pitty that i didn't get this advice before my purchase.

Do You have some advices??

I hear about Hacking, Unlocking and Jailbreaking. hat's the different

Could this be a solution in my situation ??

If your iphone 4 still in the firmware 4.0.1 then you still can do the jailbreak and unlock.

If your iphone 4 firmware is 4.0.2 or 4.1 then you will have to wait for the new version of jailbreak to get your iphone 4 jailbreak and unlock
