anybody upgraded from late 2008 15' MBP to i5/i7 model?

I'm thinking selling my macbook pro in my signature to get the new i5. is it really worth upgrading? or should i just buy or build pc if i want more power and keep my current MBP.
i really want the longer battery life.
better CPU, GPU.
automatic switching of graphic cards.
