Red face Mac OS X 10.2 Famliy Pack and Regualr question

If I buy a regular Mac OS X 10.2 software package (no the family one) will i be able to put it on 2 computers and have them networked without problems? Will it work? Does anyone know this? My dad doesn't want to spend $199 on the family pack if we can get the regualr version for $69 dollars because of my brother's college discount. Help please...

technically, as far as I know, there are know problems, unless Apple you register both copies when you fill in the details on it, why not just buy two copies of OSX.2 on the edu discount? I have done that for my Powerbook and iMac, as well as buying two copies at $19 for the two new QS at work

if you can get the edu discount you should just buy the 2 seperate copies. or just try installing the same copies on 2 Macs. if it doesn't work out you can always get another copy later. but i haven't read the license agreement, so i don't know if you're 'allowed' to do 2 installs of the same copy.

I'm pretty sure you can, but it isn't right. If you're going to install i on 3 computers, but the family pack. Or you can buy three of the regular with the education discount. That's my suggestion.

Wink

The agreement for the education buying contract dealie, says you can only but 2 of the same software. You can't but the Family pack with an education discount I just wanted to know how much I could get with lowest amount of money, I'M CHEAP!

if you get the family pack and install it on computers that aren't in the same household... which is what it is supposed to be under the agreement... then you're pirating. at that point, you may as well just get the single version and install it everywhere... i mean, it's not much different

same with using the edu discount if it's not for a student.... it's not legal. so either go all out legal, or as cheap and illegal as possible i figure...

What's it worth to you?

It really all depends on what it's worth to you. You could buy the $69 one and install it on 10,000 computers with no problem, or you could get the family pack and install it on 2 computers.

So your choices are:

$69 (doubly illegal)
$129 (illegal)
$138 (2 x 69) (gray area)
$199 (legal)

Choose your own price and pirating level
