Adobe Creative Suite 2.0?
Think Secret reports that Adobe may announce Creative Suite 2.0, with Photoshop CS 2.0 (Photoshop 9) and Illustrator CS 2.0 (Illustrator 12), as soon as next week. It is expected to use Bridge, a cross-suite file browser, is not expected to include 64-bit Photoshop support, and may have "stricter product activation".
Among the expected Photoshop features: lossless scaling of placed files, automatic updating of such files when the original is edited, operations across a selection of layers, WYSIWYG fonts, and other improvements. The "completely reworked" Illustrator is expected to provide a user experience more like that of Photoshop, a new vectorization tool, support for strike-through and underlined text, and other improvements. |

I sometimes wonder what's in the drinking water at Adobe given the speed they bring new stuff out.
This is all great stuff except for the product activation but that's been heavily trailed... As CS 2 will prob. have Acrobat 7 Pro in it, I can see this being well worth getting hold of. And of course, the most heavily-guarded against leaks is InDesign 4...

"the ability to select multiple layers and perform manipulations across all of them at the same time"
If this means what it says then I think it's worth it... let alone all of the other stuff.

I sorta feel like they are running out of room. I am by no means the type of person that uses Photoshop to its fullest capabilities, and I am not sure what percentage of people are, but it just looks like Adobe is struggling to get out new features.
I don't blame them, as CS and PS are some of the strongest products they have, and Adobe would like to squeeze as many upgrade dollars as possible out of customers. Seeing how the upgrade from 7 to CS did nothing for me besides introduce a prettier slash screen, I doubt I'll be going to PS (version 9?) is CS 2. Just to caution, if you are one of the people that really need one of these new features, I guess you won't take my opinion too strongly. Like I said, I don't really know how many Pro users are begging for these types of upgrades to an already great app. |

This version is too early. It needs to come after Tiger and support some of Tiger's new features. Perhaps release at the same time as Tiger.

I need to start using Illustrator but I'm only familiar with Photoshop CS and from what I can see of Illustrator CS it's pretty confusing... this is good news to me!!
I knew some news was breaking when I tried posting and the thing was too busy...! Yay for new news! Hob |

Illustrator isn't really too hard to pick up, it just works a bit differently than PS. Illustrator CS is a good jumping on point since it brought alot of new stuff to the table. And as for this new CS suite... whatever happened to .5 releases?

Briefly, products will revert to demo mode or stop working all together if they are not activated. This can only be done by legit purchasers of the software as the serial will be matched against a database of previous activations...

The next speculation will be about the upcoming version of Photoshop Elements (unless I already missed it). ![]() edit: Blue Velvet, I didn't mean to take you out of context because I know you weren't suggesting piracy, but rather that if people don't like it they can just not use it and therefore not buy it. Sorry!

This, along with the lower display prices and updated xServes - the ripples are starting, and the wave of MWSF is coming up fast! Next week will be a good show, I know it...

Also, this news is really about CS 2. When taken together with Acrobat Pro & Indesign, this entire package is an amazing bargain. The upgrade price on the suite will probably be comparable to a Quark upgrade alone... The big news designers are waiting for in this suite is about InDesign, that's the real story behind the bundling to make the CS which will help leverage Adobe back into the page layout market.

I have been holding back my cs purchase for this new upgrade... hopefully the new upgrade is worthwhile.
I have heard from some forums a couple of months ago that this is a .5 release and also amazon has started doing pre-order for Creative Suite Premium v1.3 and it is due for release on 12 Jan. Previous version is v1.1 so it doesn't seems to be a big release. EDIT: I realised thinksecret is reporting as CS 2.0 but amazon is doing it as CS 1.3 http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...onics&n=507846

I going to swich to mac after 12 jan, and yeah i need one of adobe cs. So now i can buy it confidently w/o wasting money for upgrade version.
it would be nice if illustrator able to reset all toolboxes (like photoshop) because when share computer at my uni those toolboxes alway change location. (hopefully my uni will upgrade, curentlly run v.10) |
