I really am not being a smarty here, but is your battery charged? If so, remove the batter and boot off of just the Powersupply if that doesn't go, then I would say you have been the victim of a surge.

System?
You don't mention what system or HD setup you have going. Have you tried to boot up holding down the option key? This will give you an option of booting from OS 9 or X. Maybe something just needs to be repaired in the sys folder in one of them.
Do you get anything on the screen, or is it just blank? Any sounds or noises from the hard drive? Gus

well... the system is 9.04 it’s the toilet seat model.
when booting up with or wit option c or c it’s a black screen with a question mark. It doesn’t have x on it. Tried it without battery but no luck. Should I be able to connect through ethernet to another computer? No exotic sounds from hard drive or cd-rom drive aaaarrrrghhhh Is there any other way to by-pass the hard drive besides using the cd-rom drive? |

Your system folder is toast. Zap the pram and see if that works. If not, then rebuild the desktop. Then, if all else fails, take it to Apple.

how old is it?
does it have FireWire, or is it one of the REALLY old ones? If it does, use TDM and another FW equipped comp to at least access your hard drive.

Put your ear against the keyboard on the right side as you try to start up the machine. Can you hear the hard drive spin up?

I won't recommend this but..
A mate had something like this once.
I had it sitting on a table after trying a few things (lid closed) and it got accidently knocked off fell about 3 feet and away she went have not had trouble since. Once again I would not recommend throwing it or droping it. Do you have an external Zip drive? if so you might be able to install a basic operating system on a disk (from a friends place or school) and try booting up with these keys pressed "SHIFT", "CONTROL" (or "OPTION" I forgot it was a while),"COMMAND" and "DELETE" (under the F12 button). This is meant to force the mac to look other than the HDD and CD for a system folder. |
