Price drop to sell out old models?

I've seen Apple have droppet the prices on all macs. Can this be because they want to sell out all the old models, before introducing new macs next week?

Did they actually drop the prices in the US as well? Or was it just an exchange rate correction?

I don't see any lowered prices on the computers in the US... Monitor prices dropped, but not computers...

There were keyboard and mouse price drops as well. I think this could be clearing the way for a new revision.

You are referring to the ones that are $29 a piece now, right? What were they? I see the wireless keyboard and mouse are $59 each. Is that the same as they were?

I think its a currency correction... reflecting a slight slide in the greenback

The wireless mouse and KB were $69 US...NOW $59 US

If this is only down to the exchange rate they could have knocked some more off. The exchange rate is what $1.9 to every £1? The stuff is shipped from the far east? An ibook is $999 in the states and £699 in the uk? Hmmm.

I imagine that they will drop prices in the US when the Rev C model comes out. Hopefully a time to get some good deals.

iMac prices down ere in AU have dropped - 1.6 ghz now $1999 - was $2199.

My University is offering $100 dollars off of the edu pricing on any stock PB. Is any where else doing this?

Stanford is offering deeper cuts, or at least the Stanford Bookstore on campus is offering them. The 12" w/Combo is going for $1110; with SuperDrive for around $1300, I forget exactly what. The 15" ones start at $1449. Of course, you need to be a faculty/staff/student there to get these prices.

I dont know about on mars where you all live but here on earth in the united states go on apples web site and there has been no price drops on any of the laptops 🙄

If you think the display price drops are foreshadowing new replacement displays, keep dreaming. The 30'' display, for example, just started shipping less than 3 months ago.

Apple.ca has dropped their prices on most items as well.

For example: The Powermac G5 Dual 1.8Ghz was $2799.99 CDN a week ago now it is $2499.99 CDN (with my university staff discount I can get it for $2299.00 CDN now).

I'm waiting till next week to see if they add anything to the G5 line or the iMac line before making my purchase. If the headless iMac is true I want one for my living room. What I really need though is a new editing system for under $3000.00 CDN. The Dual 1.8Ghz is perfect right now (even with a few upgrades it comes in under $3000 CDN with my discount) I just hope they up the standard RAM and HDD on the base model.

I hope you're being ironic.

This is just because of the US dollar dropping compared to other currencies. So you all get nice price drops, and we don't. Except for the displays of course. Plus, they aren't going to drop prices and then a week later update all of their products. New Powerbooks and eMacs, probably. New peripherals, maybe. Everything else, probably not.

Nice for non-US people, kinda sucks for us US people, because our money isn't worth what it used to be.
