Anyone have or know where to get that purple flower Lion wallpaper? I kinda like it!

Hopefully the devs will release them when they get the first build!

I really want that Lion wallpaper! I took a quick screen capture of the lion on apple's site, looks great on the iPhone, can't wait to have a full res version

I'd really like to have that, too. But why did they set a flower background an not a shot of a lion?

The flower is a lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) which blooms rich of symbolism, namely in the eastern traditions of Hinduism and Buddhism, of which Mr. Jobs is well aware.

From these perspectives, the roots of a lotus are found beneath the surface of pond mud, from there the stem grows up through the murky waters, and then finally the remarkably beautiful flower blossoms pristinely above the water, basking in the sunlight. This pattern of growth signifies the progress of the mind from the primeval mud of attachment, through the waters of experience, and into the bright rays of enlightenment.

It does not seem unreasonable to suspect that Apple uses this imagery, in full knowledge of its historical significance, because they believe their work is a continuation of this metaphorical progress.

The flower is a lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) ...

Cool. I was hoping someone would be able to identify the flower. Apple probably used a photograph from their own collections or one specifically created for this demo, but a quick Google search pulled up a photo, that while not the same one, is pretty close.

I'll think I'll use it for awhile.

Thanks for the info! That was really helpful and interesting!

And thanks for that picture! I really like it.

The desktop pic they were using looks a lot like one from the Apple TV screensaver collection (the default). But I have no way to get into the resources of Apple TV so I can't check.

Wow dude you know your stuff

Here's what I could quickly photoshop up in a few minutes. Neither looks fantastic on a large display, but they look quite nice on the iPad and iPhone.
I suppose we will have to wait for Lion to be released before we see proper full versions :(

I quite like them :D

Me too, thank you!

No problem :D
Maybe someone with more photoshop skills than me can do a better job... I was quite rushed and did them in about 2 mins.
You can get the presentation in 1080p on Apples Youtube (here) and then edit the bits where they show the lion (53:36) and the Lotus (1:00:55).
Hopefully someone posts better versions than I did.

What? You're being way too hard on yourself. As someone who does have a lot of Photoshop skills, I have to ask what you think is wrong with the pictures that you made.

Lotus Flower

I joined the forum just to post this - I'm sort of proud of it :D. I grabbed this from the 1080p version of the Apple event, content-aware deleted the menu bar, then stitched the bottom of the wallpaper on from when he did the Mission Control demo. Little bit of colour and polish, and there you go; it's 1920x1200.

Enjoy, guys! :D

I've been wondering what the default pic for Lion will be. The flower is quite a nice background. Wonder what any new ones there'll be.
